Building Healthy Families Image

Building Healthy Families

Baby Haven is an inspiring ministry provided by The Salvation Army in Caldwell.

Baby Haven

Baby Haven is an incentive-based program for low-income families who are either expecting a child or have a child under 24 months old. We partner with the University of Idaho and Eat Smart Idaho who provide nutrition and physical activity education for low-income Idahoans.

Our educational classes promote healthy families with content focused on nutrition, positive relationships, infant and child safety, financial literacy, and other life-changing topics. While learning these important topics, families are rewarded with resources for their infants like diapers, clothing, and other baby supplies. Free diapers are given at each class.

Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate of achievement.

Classes are held the second and fourth week of the month on Thursday at 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. We offer both English and Spanish speaking facilitators or staff.

THE BOUTIQUE

The boutique is filled with baby items such as, formula, diapers, wipes, clothes, blankets, and a lot more. Mothers can select items based on the points they have earned attending classes and keeping their babies medical care up to date. Diapers are given just for attending classes. Baby Haven also provides an opportunity to have fellowship and support from other mothers facing similar challenges.

COFFEE TALK
Mothers in our Baby Haven program are welcome to bring their families for Coffee Talk once a month for food, fun and fellowship. Building stronger relationships with one another outside the classroom creates a strong connection and more meaningful experience.

FACILITATORS
Facilitators in our community generously volunteer their time and expertise to teach family members who are enrolled in the program. Health, Education and Financial Stability are the three staples of Baby Haven. Subjects may include, parenting skills, nutrition, budgeting, child safety, health care, immunizations, and many other life skills.
